Safari Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Forest Department permits, vehicle allocations, zone selections, and on-ground etiquette for Indian wildlife reserves.

How early do we need to book safari permits in Rajasthan and MP?

For core safari zones across Ranthambore, Tadoba, and Panna, Forest Department reservation portals open 90 to 120 days in advance. Gypsy quotas are strictly limited, so advance reservation is critical.

What is the difference between a 4x4 Gypsy and a Canter safari?

A 4x4 Gypsy is an exclusive open-top off-road vehicle carrying up to 6 guests with superior maneuverability and quieter tracking. A Canter is an open 20-seater bus suitable for larger groups.

Which months offer the highest probability of tiger sightings?

March through June provides the highest probability because vegetation thins out and animals congregate around scarce water bodies. October to February offers lush weather and pleasant mornings.

Can I fly a drone inside the national parks?

Strictly prohibited. Operating unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) inside or near Indian national parks is a severe criminal offense under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
